Outdoor Learning at the Discovery Campus

Learning is at its best when it happens through exploration, curiosity, and real-world experiences. At the Soper Creek Wildlife Discovery Campus, we bring education to life by immersing learners in the natural world through hands-on outdoor adventures, wildlife encounters, and inquiry-based discovery.

Whether your child is homeschooled, attending one of our enrichment programs, or simply has a passion for nature, our Outdoor Learning Programs provide meaningful opportunities to explore Ontario’s forests, wildlife, and ecosystems while building confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the environment.

Nestled on 15 acres of the beautiful Oak Ridges Moraine, every visit becomes an opportunity to hike forest trails, identify native plants and trees, discover animal tracks, investigate local habitats, and connect with our incredible Animal Ambassadors. Each experience is designed to help children better understand the natural world while fostering empathy, environmental stewardship, and a sense of wonder.

Our philosophy is inspired by the words of conservationist Baba Dioum:

“In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught.”

This belief is at the heart of every program we offer. Through meaningful experiences with wildlife and nature, we help learners develop the understanding and appreciation that inspires lifelong conservation.

Led by our experienced Wildlife Educators, our programs seamlessly integrate Science, Mathematics, Literacy, Art, Environmental Studies, and Outdoor Education through engaging, curriculum-connected activities. Designed for learners from Kindergarten through Grade 6, each program aligns with Ontario curriculum expectations while embracing an inquiry-based approach that encourages children to ask questions, investigate, and learn through experience.

Using authentic learning tools—including pelts, skulls, bones, feathers, native plants, and our Animal Ambassadors—we transform every lesson into an unforgettable adventure where education comes to life.
