Wildlife Educator: Camp Counselor

Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue is looking for dedicated, hardworking teacher candidates to help provide a WILD camp experience to campers from 4-16 years of age.

This job is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and involves facilitating a mix of inquiry based and structured programming. Not only will you gain valuable experience related to outdoor education, but a chance to interact with some of Ontario’s most incredible wildlife such as porcupines, bobcats, wolves and skunks.

Position Start Date: June 15, 2021 (will vary depending on school)
Position End Date: September 6th, 2021 (Labour Day Monday)
Compensation: Minimum  Wage
Position Status: Seasonal Full Time
Position Requirements:

  • Produce Negative Police Record Check upon hire
  • Reliable Transportation to and from the wildlife center
  • Proof of Tetanus Titer
  • Experience working with children (*bonus if experience working with animals in a hands on setting)
  • First Aid CPR Certificate (Valid)
  • Academic: Secondary or Post Secondary
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Bonus if the candidate is currently enrolled in a teacher's college.

To work closely with the Camp Director and Senior Staff

  • Public presentations
  • Manage a group of 10 children ages ranging from 4-16
  • Create reports, logs and charts
  • General maintenance of equipment

Wildlife Educator: Animal Attendant

Position Requirements:

  • Produce Negative Police Record Check upon hire
  • Vaild G license, in good standing
  • Access to own vehicle for transportation to wildlife centre
  • Proof of Tetanus Titre
  • Experience working with animals
  • First Aid CPR Certificate (Valid)
  • Academic: Enrolled in post secondary
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Ability to work as a team player

  • Greeting families who are dropping off animals
  • Entering data into online systems
  • Educating the public over the phone.
